                           The Magic of La Paz

La Paz, the city of peace, is an eclectic mix of laid-back, cosmopolitan, traditional and upscale.  Although it's a city with all amenities, the slow pace and friendly people of La Paz maintain the small town feeling.  It has a dry desert climate and often cool ocean breezes at night, making it a wonderful place to live.

The crown of the city is the beachside Malecon, a wide sidewalk that stretches 5.5K (3.5 miles) from Mariana de La Paz in the south to Playa Coromuel to the north.  The Malecon is an infinitely interesting place with its tiny beaches, sculptures by local artists and plenty of places to sit and people-watch.

Whether you're taking a long morning walk, exploring the great restaurants and funky stores or enjoying an incredible La Paz sunset, the Malecon will capture your heart.

There is something for everyone in La Paz!  Your only problem will be deciding what you want to see or do!

La Paz is your doorway to the "world's aquarium", the spectacular Sea of Cortez. Would you like to swim with the gentle whale sharks, kayak in front of your home, snorkel with the sea lions, spend the day fishing for dorado, take a diving tour to the islands, learn how to stand-up paddleboard?  You could chose a different beach every day of the week...each one unique and breathtaking.

(Hmmm....should we pack a cooler or eat fish at the beachside restaurant, honey?)

But there is much more to La Paz and its surrounding communities than just water activities!  Maybe you want to study Spanish? Visit a museum?  Attend a concert?  Walk the dogs at the shelter? Explore the desert trails on your quad?  Watch a soccer game?  Take salsa lessons?  Volunteer at the orphanage? Horseback ride?  Catch a movie?  Go for fish tacos?  Take up yoga or zumba?  Explore the segundas (second-hand stores)?

And when you're done with the fun, head home for a shady siesta in your hammock!
