   El Saltito!

Our favorite beach!

You've been to Balandra and Tecolote...now it's time to explore the east side of the La Paz peninsula!

The beach at El Saltito is a jewel, and it's only 1/2 km or so from a paved road. White sand, amazing snorkelling from the rocky points at each end, and an island nesting sanctuary for seabirds just five minutes’ kayak away!  This is a truly magical place where we have spent many hours without sharing the sand with anyone…just the birds, fish and the occasional fishing boat putting by in the distance.  Photos are just not the same as being there, but here are some images from El Saltito, with a map, so you can enjoy this gorgeous spot yourselves.

Directions:

Head out of town on Colosio, past Forjadores until you hit a major intersection with the BCS La Paz-Tecolote Highway. Turn left.  Follow the road all the way across the peninsula.  The paved road ends at the top of a hill.  You take the dirt/sand roads through the desert until you see the fish camp and then turn south to the next beach.  If you don’t have 4X4 you park on the land side of the dunes and walk over the dune to the beach.  There is a road that runs along right behind the beach the whole length.
